Yokohama has undergone dramatic transformations through two catastrophes: the Great Kantō Earthquake and WWII devastation. Yet beneath these changes flows geological time carved over thousands of years. Drawing upon the art historical trajectory of ruins—from Western Romantic ruins to Arata Isozaki's concept of ruins as incubation—this work uses Yokohama's topography as its foundation to juxtapose ruins and architecture from various eras within a single space. This creates a CG rendering of ruins in which past, present, and future are not easily distinguishable. Is what we see here our past? Our present? Or our future?

Personally collected fragments of the city and extensive historical research are reconfigured into collage-like footage centered on the theme of ruins. By juxtaposing different eras and perspectives to construct spaces where past, present, and future become indistinguishable, I attempt to relativize the familiar cityscape and present an alternative viewpoint.
